Malibu's canyons, Malibu Creek, Topanga, Las Flores, and the rest, funnel rodents down toward the homes that line them, and roof rats work the mature landscaping on canyon lots year round, picking up further once nights cool every October.
Creeks and canyon bottoms hold water even in dry months, and that standing water keeps mosquito pressure real in Malibu from July through September, worse on the properties closest to the creek beds. We use In2Care stations that are safe for bees to cut down breeding sites without harming the pollinators working the coastal sage.
The Franklin Fire in December 2024 and the fires that followed left cleared lots and active construction sites across parts of Malibu, and disturbed ground, stored building material, and temporary fencing are exactly the conditions that draw rodents in while a property sits mid rebuild.
