Bedbug Identification

What are Bedbugs?

Bedbugs are tiny, oval-shaped insects that feed on human and animal blood. They are nocturnal pests, often found in mattresses, furniture, and cluttered spaces. Despite their small size, approximately 1/4 inch long, they can cause significant discomfort with itchy, red bites. Bedbugs are notoriously hardy and can live for months without feeding, making them a persistent problem if not properly addressed.

Life Cycle and Reproduction of Bedbugs

These pests molt at each of the five stages they go through, from egg to adult. They lay about 1-5 eggs daily and can produce up to 500 eggs in their lifetime, often hiding them in concealed spots. The eggs usually hatch within two weeks. If conditions are optimal, they can grow into adults within a month, resulting in several generations each year.

Common Habitats and Behaviors of Bedbugs

Especially active at night, these pests favor dark, warm places such as mattresses, furniture, and carpeting. They can also inhabit luggage or clothing. Rather than building nests, they typically live in groups. Feeding on human blood, usually when their hosts are asleep, they can survive several months without a meal if needed.

Differentiating Bedbugs from Other Pests

Identifying bedbugs among other pests can be done by observing some unique traits. These pests are small, brownish, and oval-shaped, turning reddish after a blood meal. They lack the ability to fly yet move swiftly across floors, walls, and ceilings. The presence of itchy rashes from their bites further confirms their existence. These characteristics set bedbugs apart from other household pests.

Why Our Customers Love Us

Honorable, honest, efficient and provide fair pricing. Someone is always available to help and the tech's (Juan cares for our home), are also wonderfully adept. Sam, who I believe is the owner, is always incredibly kind, considerate, patient and informed. My husband is immune from mosquito bite reactions, although my daughter and I are not. We have NOT been bitten ONCE (at our home) since Facility began in the spring (and we have neighbors on either side of us with green, mossy pools). We are even able to enjoy sitting outside in the mornings and evenings now. So grateful we stumbled across this company! Highly recommend! A+++
